We realize from the Scriptures that there MUST be a new song for a new Christian.  Obviously, this new song can not be of the world, or else it would not be a new song.

And of course, along with Christians being told about a new song, we will see here in this sermon that the Devil has also come up with a new song.

You will even see that even though this new song is not really all that new, today's children in our public AND private schools have been trained for years and years to look forward to this 'new' song when it does appear.  Most of our family and relatives will enjoy this 'new' song of the world.  If you notice in the newspapers, on local and national newscasts, tv programs and tv talks shows, etc., this 'new' song is becoming more and more popular every day.  And surprisingly enough, even many Christians will also enjoy this 'new' song.

What is this NEW SONG that the world enjoys today?

But before I show you about this 'new' song,
let's do a little review and background regarding music.

I.  Music Background Review & Introduction Music is called the universal language because people from all and any country respond to music.  That is why music fills the air almost everywhere you go; you can hardly go anywhere today and not hear some sort of music.

Music is everywhere!
(there is no silence in America anymore!)

We must then always remind ourselves that Satan certainly has, is now and will continue to use music as one of his tools in his subtle & deceptive tool bag.  In fact, music has been one of his biggest weapons against Christians for many years.  with some observational study, we can see how Satan will use 'all kinds of music' music Daniel 3:5,7,10,15 to get a person to reject the words of God and thus be kept from getting saved, which, by the way,  is the obvious main objective of Satan.  This objective of Satan seems to be one that most people are blinded from - II Corinthians 4:4.  In fact, Satan has even snuck into the lives of 'readerless' Bible Believing Christians and uses 'good' music to get folks to quench and grieve the Spirit. (See The Mozart Effect) I Thessalonians 5:19 & Ephesians 4:30.

Bottom line - Satan doesn't want anyone saved - but if they do get saved, he will then try to block out God by blocking out His words in their daily lives!

Music is a powerful medium to all of us.  Reading in I Samuel 16:14-23, we see a great example of how music affected a person in all three areas of being - in a physical manner, in a mental manner and in a spiritual manner.  In other words, music will deal with our spirit, our soul and our body (flesh).

In I Samuel 16, Saul received blessings to his flesh (he was well); to his soul (Saul was refreshed) and to his spirit (the evil spirit departed from him).

God will take care of our whole self - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:23 But until God glorifies our body which will enable us to physically live in the Kingdom of God, for now, we have to be satisfied with God living in us!

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
I Corinthians 6:19,20
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
I Corinthians 3:16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
II Corinthians 6:16

So with God living in us, and with Him providing His words to walk us through each and every moment of each and every day, our use of music is very much different than that of the world.  We must have a NEW SONG!

We will get all the comfort, direction, encouragement, peace, strength, etc. from God by our reading His inspired and preserved words in the KJV1611 Holy Bible.  The music we do hear and perform must be pleasing to God as the music from us is to be given to Him in praises, not for our 'entertainment', etc.  The music that we hear must not be Spirit quenching and/or Spirit grieving because the Holy Spirit can not 'leave' us nor forsake us to get away from us like He did regarding Saul.  Any music for OUR FLESH profiteth nothing for us or for the Spirit or for God!

As a Christian, we CANNOT use Saul as our example for the use of music to be a 'blessing' to us. Our music now must be pleasing to God - not just to us.

When a person 'dies' to self to 'live' for Jesus Christ by being 'born again', a person's music also must die.  Our music of the world dies and it is to be replaced by psalms, hymns and spiritual songs - "a new song"!  Our music must be true... honest... just... pure... lovely... of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.  Philippians 4:8,9

It is the word of Christ that is our blessing, etc., not the music itself, anymore. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  Colossians 3:16

Well, let's go ahead into the future just a bit and look at a typical day in the tribulation.  This is a time geared for the Jews, but there are others there as well who have chosen this way of life as they have rejected Jesus Christ as their saviour - thus they will miss the rapture and will be caught in the tribulation.

As things get worse and worse and more good becomes evil and more evil becomes good, etc. (Is 5:20), the world out there will take more and more pleasure in watching and hearing the true Bible Believing Christian 'lose' in the battles that are about to come.

If we maintain confidence and the peace of God through reading and praying that won't be pretty music to the world at all!  But it will be music to us - AND - to God!
