• 1.  Ever wonder why they don't?  Perplexed?
• Knowing the possibilities from the Scriptures can help take the distress away.  This study should help us understand these days.
• 2.  Just like Paul's prayers, we can learn what to try to deal with as we prepare to deal with families, and our own, churches, etc.
• 3.  This helps us be aware of the dangers that we can all encounter that could damage or kill our spiritual life - even our desires, etc.

• They were brought 'good tidings of good things!'
• They received someone with gladness someone who has grown - they held them in 'reputation.'

• 1. To give assistance to, To be of service
• 2. To contribute to the furtherance of; promote
• 3. To give relief to
• 4. To ease; relieve

• guide, comfort, show the way, $$, reprove, pray, rebuke, made aware, listen to, correct, instruct.

• What if they:
• refuse, don't know there is a need, have pride (you can tell by the contention - see Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom), ungrateful, ignorant, angry, not saved, critical of 'how' you tried, uninterested, bothered, interested but no time, say they are interested but are lying, 'think' you are wrong - but won't show you what it is that is wrong or won't show you what they see to be right, say they believe it but still just say they don't want to act on it, have their hands tied - in the snare of the devil and are so deep it doesn't even look possible to get out, they want their ears tickled to fix what they are only interested in, blinded by the devil - by religion - by education - by science - by money, etc.

• 1)  Must we try to provoke them to good works so that they can receive God's help?

• No - tribulation book - good works first won't fix things!  Hear - believe - trust - then the works will change!
• 2)  Serious prayer seeking God's mercy and grace to help!

• Again, tribulation book - prayer is not a power to change God's mind, etc.
• Paul on prayer - sure, for peace of God, but we have the Book for His answers to our prayers!

• 4) Encourage them to stay in the fight for faith - according to the Risen Saviour and Paul, KJB, etc.

• II Corinthians 1:24 - Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
• Not by works - lets...  Ephesians 2:8,9
• Works suddenly do not earn our perfection - Galatians 3:1-14

• Paul / Pastor, etc. does not have dominion over your faith, either!

• But the rightly divided word of truth should have dominion over us - and all that comes with the Risen Saviour - GRACE, Knowledge of the Risen Saviour, the riches of understanding, not under the law, liberty in Christ, etc. etc.
• I Thessalonians 5:14 - Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
• warn the unruly! - not comfort the unruly!
• comfort the feebleminded - warn the feebleminded / weak
• support the weak - warn the weak - scare them!

Titus 2:1-10

• Not interested
• Not been taught this 'sound doctrine'
• All directed to the Christian

• People can only ask foolish questions!

• Unruly and vain talkers and deceivers
• liars, evil beasts slow bellies

• They profess to know God, but...

• They withstand the KJB - they hate the words of God

• They will not endure sound doctrine - turn away their ears from what you have to say

• Christians who will also resist the truth!

• Can't get it - too much learning doth make them mad!

• Don't have the Scriptures
• Don't believe they are the Scriptures - almost, but seldom totally!
• Believe the originals were inspired but not the KJB.

• Not know Rightly dividing.
• Lived under profane and vain babblings!
• Lived in ungodliness...

• Can't endure hardness
• Spoiled
• trusted in uncertain riches
• can't be alone
• need friendship and fellowship - more important than truth, etc.

• Few faithful men willing and wanting to hear, let alone pass it on!

• Ashamed of the complete testimony of Jesus Christ

• Trusting in uncertain riches
• Love of money and all that goes with it - sorrows, error from the faith, etc.

• They have turned aside after Satan
• They have been taught to turn aside after Satan

• Some have given heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils
• Hard to break them away from being seduced...

• More into bodily appearance than the walk for God, etc.

• Some despise the youth!
• Note: Kids street preaching are out of line towards an adult!

• Gave heed to fables, etc.

I Timothy 1:9-11

• They need the law - they don't even know God!
• See Romans 7:9,10
• They were never taught about God when younger!
• See Galatians 3:22-26
• It must all be then compared to Paul's teachings

• They are ignorant / too comfortable / being rebellious, etc. with their walking disorderly of Paul.
• Just tired of the folly of religion, but not willing to try it again.

• They have become weary in "well doing' trying.
• II Corinthians 4:1 - Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
• II Corinthians 4:16 - For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
• Ephesians 3:13 - Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

• The helper / worker has lost the work of faith, their labour of love, their patience of hope.
• I Corinthians 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
• We can be encouraged in helping others, especially the brethren!
• Galatians 6:9,10 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

• Not willing to stand fast
• Not knowing what Paul has taught!
• strength / clean / no chastisement, etc. - just growth!
• They reject that consolation and good hope - comfort and good words and works - vs 16,17

• They are troubled but know the ending!

• They don't trust a pastor / teacher / evangelist
• expect too much perfection
• impressed or thankful for the past work, but have forgotten
• think he is lying doctrinally
• don't trust his rightly dividing because they think it is being done in a private interpretation manner
• think he is brainwashing / manipulating, but you can't prove it Scripturally unless you wrongly divide!
• rumor / gossip casts unnecessary doubts in the hearers
• at home, they heard their parents 'bash' the preacher or his sermon
• headed up the folly they are now recognizing
• tired of the guilt and pressure for money only stuff!
• don't like the authority he preaches WITH!
• If you could, you would have peace!

• Mad at God - not man, even so they say it is man they say they are mad at.

• They are ignorant of what the Risen Saviour has said through Paul in how to please the LIVING God, not their unknown God.!

• Not willing to have faith perfected
• II Timothy 3:17 - by the Scriptures - purpose and goal
• satisfied with present level
• compare themselves with others - or with ourselves and our own standards...

• Don't like the battles you see the pastor going through - wears you out.
• They should strengthen you, not weaken you!

• Pastor John - I know what the poor guy is about to get into - any pastor who introduces Paul into his church - I Corinthians 4:17: For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
• He will be hurt!
• He will hurt others!
• He will meet 'hardness' head on!
• It will affect his health!
• He will experience harassment!
• He will see hypocrisy to the max!
• although Paul never talks about hypocrisy...
• He will have to deal with himself!
• He will have to deal with his family!
• He will have to deal with honorable and devout holy women!
• He will have to deal with helpless men
• Hopefully, you will be strengthened, not weakened through it all as you watch your pastor preach the Risen Saviour through Paul!

• They seek their strength in their supposed sinlessness!
• They seek their strength through their confession!
• They seek their strength in their church & fellowship!
• They seek their strength in their pastor.
• They seek their strength in their music - listening and/or playing!
• They seek their strength in their uncertain but good to have riches - $$$.

• Have not heard of the dispensation of the grace of God!
• Doctrinally deceived and unlearned!

• Going by works - can't figure God would ever do it the way Paul teaches it.
